June 03B
Wonder-Bra Girls ~
A group of 9 girls wearing just a bra on top teamed with jeans 'ran' through the most centric streets of Madrid in a convertible, to present the latest models from the famous American firm of sexy lingerie the 'Wonder-Bra' that promises giving you 'a lot for nothing' to figure conscious women of all ages. Apparently understanding police warned drivers to pay at least equal attention to traffic.

Fox celebration ~
It started on the 1st of June, till the end of this year, the paid TV channel Fox celebrates it's 10th anniversary in Spain, with the re-emission at 21.05 from Monday to Friday, and from the 1st episode, of it's most popular series.

So 'House' opened the cycle of June, followed by 'Bones' (July), and 'Ghost whisperer' (August). In the following months there are the special recuperated titles like 'Grey's anatomy', 'Prison break', 'Modern family', 'Lost', 'Glee', and 'Dexter. Most of these I had missed, by luck or by misfortune.

What did I do while these were on the 1st, 2nd or the 3rd time round? Can anybody tell me whether any of these are worth watching?

A Singer said ... ~
"Reinvent, provoke, evolution, or die." She did, when none of those worked for her professionally, nor in her love life.

3rd June 2011 Cucumber Everywhere In Everything!

The head of Spanish Sanitary Ministry, Leire Pajin, declared yesterday that the  Government acted from the 1st minute in the crisis of the cucumber, and that it would demand official apologies from Germany, and the UE, for the false and unjust accusation that has sunk the Spanish orchards. It's been announced that it would not discard taking up legal actions and request changes in the European system of alerts.

The German councillor, Angela Merkel, has compromised a telephone conversation with the President of the Spanish Government Zapatero, to study indemnification to the agriculturists affected by the crisis, after the cucumber was accused of having transmitted the outbreak of E.coli. The authorities of both countries specify 'in the coming days' the discussions.

To combat the ill effects, the fear, the suspicion and over-precaution, most food tables display cucumber used in all manners of ways,,  apart from salads, they are fried, grilled, battered, in cold soups, omelettes ... even in sandwiches coping the British high society daintiness.

It surprises no one that with the crisis it has proliferated the submerged economy. It existed in the times of bonanza; otherwise one can't explain that Spain registers an 8% unemployment while it's economy grows above the European average. But the cruel facts of depression that the media revealed today goes beyond the simple exploitation of labour: prisoners of desperation, the participants of inverse auctions of day work has converted, simply and plainly, in slaves of the 21st century.

Like the Andalusian and Mucian immigrants in the 50's rented out by hour their hands as day labours until well into the 80's, in the vicinity of the Mercabarna (central markets of Barcelona with 800 companies corroborating). Today, at this hour and in different points of Barcelona, the excluded from this sick society, for now the the majority are immigrants, many with with work permit, milled around amongst company representatives without scruples, begging for work so precarious as ephemeral.

The modern day foreman fixes the derisive and contemptuous sum as starting wage and from there, the one who 'bids' (willing to accept, the reverse of an auction) the least gets the precious employment; for the sake of calling it something. And all that, of course, without contract, nor security measures of any kind.

These resigned day workers don't understand anything about indemnification for dismissal, collective agreement or alliance, or labour absenteeism. They are invisible to their patrons, or syndicates, nor are they interested in the reform of the market, of jobs; after all, they live in the sub-world where there are no rights to claim anything. The only thing that matters is to feed the hunger today. Tomorrow? God decides.
