13th April 2012 Two Virgins

April 13B
Unfinished Music No.1: Two Virgins ~   2 Virgins Cover
It is an album released by John Lennon & Yoko Ono in 1968. An experimentation and John and Yoko's début album, known not only for it's Avant Garde content, also for it's cover above. The title refers to the couple's feeling that they were 'two innocents lost in a world gone mad', and because after making the recording the two consummated their relationship.

The very old and rough prints below were obviously taken at the same session, more like testing snapshots including the back view of the same photo. These 2 photos were auctioned yesterday in Dorchester, England, but they didn't reached the scandalously high figured as expected, sold for merely £860 (some €1,040). The author of 'Image' described them as 'Photos of 2 somewhat overweight ex junkies, found by surprise in the attic of a house' without further ado.

That to me is unnecessarily degrading. They are indeed very ordinary photos with hardly artistic value, had it not been that of the problematic and near mythical couple and stark naked. I am already quite surprised they did fetched near a thousand Euro. However, what I see is not just the photos of these two world known figures, each with his/her own well deserved merit in art and music and, I dare add, unmatchable charisma and daring to be what they truly were, and had the courage to express exactly what they felt and wanted.

I also imagine the long line of people over a long period of decades, each had his/her own reason to say, do, express and execute their ideals, led by the 2 challenging lovers. Their own reason for the photos was clearly & publicly declared. What about those who practically worshipped them and collected whatever remnants of theirs belongs however small or trivial? What's their reason? Who is the person who hid these photos in his/her attic for several decades? Why? And, the person who found them but wanted money instead, what made him/her think they could fetch a colossal price? Who is the person who just paid a high enough price for them, what's his reason? To keep for ever? To wait longer for higher price to resell? A fan? A collector?

And why is there no detail in the news about this find and the consequence, when at one time, if one of them had a normal headache, that alone would make news half way round the world?

13th April 2012 When Size Matters ...

April 13A
The anxious question of whether size matters or not only worried the scientists in this case, who tried to help a couple of enormous size difference: he, Guntur, weighs 45 kilos and she, Asmara, only 25 kilos.

It's the first time, ever, the scientists tried to assist a successful coition, the coupling of the two and hoping for a fruitful reproduction. The victim in this is Ombak, deselected as lover for Asmara because of his gigantic size and ferocious appearance. I am talking about 2 Komodo Dragons (largest lizard native of Indonesia). What had YOU been thinking?

These creatures usually have great difficulty producing when kept outside of their natural habitat. AsThe team of scientist and veterinarians of the Barcelona Zoo started by putting the two dragons together for one night, keeping a very watchful eye in case there's violence instead of acceptance.

The night passed peacefully, at one time Guntur even embraced Asmara with one paw; but there was no sex act. (maybe like us, they didn't want audience in their intimate moments?) At least there's no fear of violence.

Not sure what they did eventually, but apparently the direct assistance was possible yesterday and now they are keeping their fingers, toes and paws crossed for the patient wait of 9 months, just like people, for the arrival of tiny dragons.

13th April 2012 The €2,500 Issue

April 13
The Spanish Government prohibits as from now any payment in cash over the sum of €2,500 to any shops, companies or professional services, as means of blocking the path for trafficking black money. The sanction is for both the payer and the receiver.

All Spanish need to inform the Government all their bank accounts, security savings, market values and properties owned, home or abroad. This cash figure also applies to traveller going abroad.

As far as I know, and everybody else does as well, that the most common and generally accepted (expected in fact) in the sale of property is that an agreement is sealed first between the seller and buyer, that only a reasonable part of the price is paid officially in the presence of the Notario's office (Law firm mainly handling legal matters but not crime), the balance in cash is paid directly to the seller, thus avoiding paying tax on the full amount.

The notarios themselves are fully aware of this, but usually excuse themselves discreetly at the right moment, leaving the 2 parties to conclude the private payment. (so that they can honestly say they never saw any money changing hands I suppose).

Human nature being what it is, when the issue is to do with gaining or losing money, the wise old saying demonstrates efficiency: When there's a will, there's a way. The practice will continue or even better ones would be found. Whatever the Governments says, public cunning rules.
