Always Have A Dream

Always Have A Dream
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Forget about the days
when it's been cloudy,
but don't forget your hours in the sun.

Forget about the times
you've been defeated,
but don't forget the victories you've won.

Forget about the mistakes
that you can't change now,
but don't forget the lessons.

Forget about the misfortunes
you've encountered,
but don't forget the times your luck has turned.

Forget about the days
when you've been lonely,
but don't forget the friendly smiles you've seen.

Forget about the plans
that didn't seem to work out right,
but don't forget to always have a dream.

The Girl Of Yesterday

 photo April12B_zpsd1969c30.jpg
I found a poem in a song that I quite like, by a Spanish Singer - Poet. I thought I would try to translate it from Spanish to English here, as my Blogs are also my file of any bits and pieces of whatever I wish to keep. I should try hard to retain the sentiments exactly as they are expressed in the original: -

'La Chica de Ayer'

Un día cualquiera no sabes que hora es,
Te acuestas a mi lado sin saber por que.
Las calles mojadas te han visto crecer
Y con tu corazón estas llorando otra vez.
Me asomo a la ventana, eres la chica de ayer.
Jugando con las flores en mi jardín.
Demasiado tarde para comprender;
Chica, vete a tu casa, no podemos jugar.
'The Girl of Yesterday'

One certain day not sure at what hour,
You lay by my side not knowing why.
The damp streets had seen you grow,
And once again you cried with your heart.
I leaned against the window; you are the girl of yesterday
Playing with flowers in my garden.
Too late to comprehend;
Girl, go home; we can't play.
The morning light streaming into the room,
Your golden hair seemed like the sun.
Later by night, listening
To songs that promise I could love you.
I leaned against the window, you are the girl of yesterday.
Too late to comprehend.
My head spinning following you,
My head spinning ...

Queen Of England's Apology

Queen's Apology ~

A Spanish friend was saying how gracious the queen of Spain is, very kind and approachable, and it's not uncommon to see her shaking hands in the street with any citizen who is bold enough to get close to her, to ask or give opinion, or just to show respect. That reminded me of a review I wrote in 2009 ...

It's been the British custom, or more like an institution, that Queen, Elizabeth ll, always sends a felicitation card to her subjects on the day they complete 100 years, or when their birthday exceeds that figure. Amongst them is Catherine Master, a British woman of 109 years, who wrote to the queen to complain that each year she has been sent exactly the same card.

Catherine Masters lives in an old folks' residence in Stanford in the Vale, in the south of England, who told the queen that on all the birthdays in the past 5 years she received the card in which the Queen wore the same yellow dress. Confronted with such claim, Prince Williams, representing the Queen, had presented himself in person to her home to ask pardon.

The person responsible for the residence, Wendy Mead, said that they had not been expecting the visit of Prince Williams. "We received a call just 5 minutes before the Prince arrived here!" Now Catherine Master had been invited by the Queen to take tea with her in the gardens of the Buckingham Palace later on the 7th of July.

Queen Elizabeth ll and other members of the royal family open the doors of the Palace each July to have tea in the open air with hundreds of specially selected citizens and guests.

Very forthright and honest of the old lady to speak out her mind, and very civil and gracious of the Queen to ask pardon of a civilian for her own oversight of attention to details.

The Warning & The Attack

 photo April12_zps9bce5fa1.jpg
The warning
David, Benny and Howard went everywhere together. David was an alcoholic, Benny was a heavy smoker and Howard was gay. Over the years, all three became desperately ill, so one day they decided to see a doctor to discuss their options.

The doctor examined each one in turn and when he had written up his notes, he looked up and with a very serious face, addressed all three of them. He said, "It’s very clear to me that if you continue to indulge in your respective abhorrent vices, even just once, you will die. Please believe, I know what I’m talking about."

Each one left the surgery determined never again to indulge in his vice. However, on their way home, they passed a wine bar. David heard the loud music, he smelled the drink and without thinking, led his friends inside and ordered a glass of wine. As soon as he had finished the drink, he fell dead on the floor.

Benny and Howard were totally shaken when they left the bar. They now realized more than ever the seriousness of their doctor’s warning.

As they continued home, Benny saw a cigarette end lying in the gutter. It was still alight but before Benny could do anything, Howard put his hand on Benny’s shoulder and said,
"You know, if you bend down to pick up that cigarette end, we're both dead."

Under Attack
An old Wild West fort is about to be attacked. The wily old general sends for his trusty Indian scout.
"You must use all your thirty years of skill in trying to estimate the sort of army we are up against here."

The trusty Indian scout lies down and puts his ear to the ground.
"Heap large war party," he says, "maybe three hundred braves, four chiefs, two on black stallions, two on white stallions. All have war paint. Many, many guns. Medicine man also with them."

"Good grief!" exclaims the general. "You can tell all of that just by listening to the ground?"

"No," replies the Indian, "I can see under the gate."
