The
Spanish editorials are battling for the right of a book of which they
know nothing whatsoever about! It has to be the most strange auction in
the history, all fighting for the exclusive right to publish the new
book of J.K. Rowling, in several languages, amongst them Castellano
(Spanish) and Catalan.
It's
open to all new groups, not just the traditional editors, with a
peculiarity; the contenders must must formulate their offers, which is
to say, playing the high stake of thousands and thousand of € without
able to read a single chapter of the book, nor the synopsis of the
contents, nor the title, nor the date of publication, which 'could' be
in 2012 or 2013. Nor do they know what type of book it's going to be.
'A black novel' is no more than a supposition. The only hint is by the
authoress' own voice 'Will be very different'.
There
are even bets going on about the kind of book it is, or it's targeted
market be for adults or children. It won't be an easy tasks for the
publishers to decide how many copies to print, how to advertise etc.
knowing nothing whatsoever what they are selling. Rowling would be
laughing though all the way to the bank and the crown of Queen of
Mysteries.
Very
few authors for sure could play a game under such risky condition like
this; probably no one at all before Rowling. Far from the period when
Rowling tried to publish her first book, rejected by a dozen
editorials. It's a modern day fairy tale bearing the fact of a woman's
vocation, determination, doggedness to achieve her dream and succeeded.
