In Praise Of Women Over 50

 photo Mar24B_zpsbcd7c863.jpg
In case you missed it on 60 Minutes, this is what Andy Rooney, 60 Minutes Correspondent (CBS) thinks about women over 50.
As I grow in age, I value women over 50 most of all. Here are just a few reasons why:
** A woman over 50 will never wake you in the middle of the night & ask, 'What are you thinking?' She doesn't care what you think.
** If a woman over 50 doesn't want to watch the game, she doesn't sit around whining about it. She goes and does something, she wants to do, & it's usually more interesting.
** Women over 50 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you, if they think they can get away with it.
** Older women are generous with praise, often undeserved. They know what it's like to be unappreciated.
**Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins to a woman over 50.
** Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over 50 is far sexier than her younger counterpart.
** Older women are forthright and honest. They'll tell you right off if you are a jerk or if you are acting like one. You don't ever have to wonder where you stand with her.
** Yes, we praise women over 50 for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately, it's not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed, hot woman over 50, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some 22-year old waitress. Ladies, I apologize.
** For all those men who say, 'Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free? Here's an update for you. Nowadays, 80% of women are against marriage. Why? Because women realize it's not worth buying an entire pig just to get a little sausage!

Andy Rooney is a really smart guy!
Oh, one more thing: Never test the depth of water with both feet.

The Religious

** The rescue attempt
Jacob is a very religious man. One day, a nearby river floods its banks and rushes into town, forcing Jacob to climb onto his garage roof. Soon, a man in a boat comes along and tells Jacob to get in.
Jacob says, "That’s very kind of you, but no thanks. God will take care of me." So, the boat leaves.

The water rises and Jacob has to climb onto the roof of his house. Another man in a boat comes along and tells Jacob to get in.
Jacob replies, "That’s very kind of you but no thanks. God will take care of me." The boat leaves.

The water rises further and soon Jacob is clinging to his chimney. Then a helicopter arrives and lowers a ladder. The helicopter pilot tells Jacob to climb up the ladder.
Jacob replies, "That’s very kind of you but no thanks. God will take care of me."
The pilot says, "Are you really sure?"
Jacob says, "Yes, I'm sure that God will take care of me."

Finally, the water rises too high and Jacob drowns. He goes up to Heaven and is met by God.
Jacob says to God, "You told me you would take care of me. What happened?"

God replies, "Well, I sent you two boats and a helicopter. What else did you want me to do?"

** The sermon
One Shabbos, Rabbi Bloom told his congregation, "Next week, my sermon will be all about the sin of lying and to help you understand it better I would like you all to read Leviticus chapter 28 before next week."
The following Shabbos, at the start of his sermon, Rabbi Bloom asked his congregation,

"How many of you have read Leviticus 28?" Every hand went up.
Rabbi Bloom smiled and said,

"Leviticus has only 27 chapters. I will now proceed with my sermon on the sin of lying."

Google Gmail Labs

I have a very bad habit, or I should make it sound better that I have never cultivated the good habit - of reading back anything I have written. I mean anything & everything, letters, important application forms, whatever ... I write a lot of Blogs, but as soon they are written I never read back to check likely typing errors except recently, when glancing over some if any title suggested something to me that I might want to keep so they won't die with Multiply. Doing that, most reluctantly, I did discover a few I wished to keep, and a few others I wondered why I never did something about, like the one I am re-posting here, because I want to find out what I said I should, and didn't ...!! If any of you guys do use the Labs, would you kindly pass on your opinion of it? And the How-To maybe?

** Posted on Multiply - 1st April 2009 **

Google has just launched their Gmail Labs, in 49 languages, with tools to improve and personalize your incoming mail. What excites most, especially to me, is not at all to do with it's capacity of the multi-languages; with just English, Spanish, Chinese and German, I am already happy enough. I am overjoyed about this because I have been, for nearly as long as I can remember, having constant difficulty with the connection problem where I live, Roses, Spain. Most unreliable to say the least. It comes and goes, more often off than on. (That was in 2009, now much improved)

What is new (to me) and surprising, is that users can do most of their up to now online tasks without being online. No Internet connection is necessary. You can reach and check Email, create messages, working as you usually do offline, and when you are connected, all the changes you have made would be automatically synchronised and updated in all areas or files of achieves. (I have never done this, but I supposed everyone else has!!!)

I don't personally see the great necessity or advantage, but you can also change your mind after clicking on the 'Send' button, if it's within 5 seconds, to cancel the 'send' action. For instance, your Email says your are sending an attachment but you suddenly realize you have forgotten to include it. (That I must admit I have done more than a few times, but usually took longer than 5 seconds to discover the omission!)

Although I have had a Gmail account for a couple of years, I nearly never use it, more used to Yahoo. But I will definitely check out Gmail Labs now. (Now why did I say that and didn't bother to do it???)
