10th Nov 2011 The Horse, The Cow, The Baboon, And The Girl

A horse which is not exactly a horse ~
Regina is a 15 year old German girl who has been, still does now, dreaming about being an equestrienne (female horse rider); but her parents wouldn't buy her a horse. So with the cooperation - at first very reluctant - of the family cow, 'Luna', many many hours and infinite patience, she managed to train her cow to accept the weight on her back; not only that, but jump over a fence. As all arduous effort are compensated, you can see her now on the cow's back jumping over successfully an obstacle.

Even Regina continues dreaming about having a horse, she is for now very happy and enthusiastic with her precious 'Luna', going horse-riding on a cow's back.

The baby baboon and his inseparable 'twin' ~
The baby baboon is just 18 days old, shown here with his favourite and inseparable mascot, almost his twin, also hairy and a baboon soft toy. The image was taken in the zoo of Ningbo City, China. They are by nature very sociable, and live in big groups up to 250, divided into smaller family groups, formed principally by females and young ones, led by a dominant male. In China these baboons enjoy 1st grade protection by the authorities.

The gigantic slipper-sleeper, or is it sleeper-slipper?

Sleeoer-Slipper
The amused and smug guy in the photo is Tom Bodddingham, a British young man who has one foot somewhat bigger than the other. So he ordered a made-to-measure pair of slippers in China - one size 13 and the other 14.5. But an error occurred: instead of size 14.5 he was sent one 1450 in size.

Tom, being a good sport, is far more chaffed and amused than angry. He is now putting the gigantic slipper for sale as cosy sleeping bag/bed on eBay. For sure he will get at least triple the price as he had paid.

A luxury hotel suite 150 metres under ground!

Underground HotelThis hotel was formerly a coal mine in Sweden, ancient, disused & abandoned for years; until some brilliant brains cooked up the idea of converting it into a most unique hotel for novelty seekers.

Even in Spain, there are a few luxury hotels costing more than this one. But for me, even if I were able to afford the price, I will definitely feel claustrophobic. It's like an ancient dungeon, albeit with all luxury facilities.
