6th May 2012 Rest In Peace, Adam Yauch

May 06A
Talking about the Pop Rock music in my earlier Blog today, the news of the very sudden death of Adam Yauch shocked the world of Hip Hop. It had been known for some while that the famous New York rapper suffered cancer of the saliva gland since 2009, but until the very last day the 'Beastie Boys' were spreading inexhaustible vitality and good humour. He died day before yesterday at the age of only 47.

Beatie Boys have been a very unique band of white trio, well respected and adored by the black brotherhood of Hip-Hop music.Their 1987 début album 'License to ill' sold 5 millions copies and they got the 1st Number one in the history of Hip-Hop. I remember they performed here in Spain in 1998, by then they have consolidated themselves as a versatile music group, all playing their own instruments, at ease with psychedelic funk as with hardcore Rock and Rap.

Yauch was not just a rapper, an accomplished multi-talented musician and showman, was also a keen and shrew businessman, directed the discography of Grand Royale, founded the production company of Cinema Oscilloscope Laboratories, from which launching documentaries of thematic and social musicals, and independent films like 'Wendy and Lucy'.

He also produced and directed a great many video clips of the 'Beatie Boys', one of the disciplines most contributed to consecrate the trio. The last of them, 'Make some noise', was an extract from the short film 'Fight for your right to party revisited' were played by 3 'false' Beatie Boys, the actors Elijah Wood, Seth Rogen and Danny McBride. An infinite list of actors invited (Laura Dern, Susan Sarandon, Will Ferrer, Jack Black' Chloe Sevigny, Orlando Bloom ...) gives a glimpse of the prestige amassed by 3 rappers, white, rough, and unforgettable.

May You Rest In Peace, MCA

6th May 2012 Free, Double Attendance To Formula 1 ...

May 06
Formula 1 For 20 New VIPs ~

If any of you are Formula 1 fans, as well as half interested in visiting Barcelona, here it's a fantastic chance to gain the entry, for two people, absolutely free! Not only that, but the privilege of occupying a VIP Gold Suite in the circuit of Montmelo, on the days 11th to 13th of May. You still have 5 more days, time enough to win the tickets if you hurry right now.

All you have to do is to open an account, free too of course, in the Facebook, click on 'Promotion' to participate in the lucky draw at:  facebook.com/elperiodico.catalunya

I am not really qualified as a fan of F1, but I did attended several in different countries and pretty much enjoyed myself. What I object to this time is needing to open an account in Facebook first. I have been asked and invited to do so many times but I simply don't like Facebook at all.

International Pop Rock Music Festival ~

What I would try not to miss is the International Pop Rock Festival, with Bob Dylan opening it on the 14th of July in Cap Roig, the most important musical event in the Costa Brava.

This year it potentiates electric musical programmes. Apart from musical giant like Bob Dylan, the list of participating artists is definitely reads as a Who's Who of top-notch stars: Tony Bennett, Ben Harper, Paul Anka, Manolo Garcia, Miguel Nose, Simple Minds, Alejanndro Sanz and Joaquin Cortes ... amoungst others totally more than 20 outstanding artists of international fame, many had contributed in the past too to make Cap Roig of Spain into music festivals of reference.

Since Joaquin Cortes also figures in the list, I can safely guess that it would include some amazing dance performances too.
