9th June 2012 Hundreds Of Spanish Mourned The Death Of A Dolphin

June 09A
The most touching solidarity act ~

Several hundred people in Taragona, Spain, mourned the death of a Dolphin, died yesterday despite the combined effort of more than 200 local inhabitants and volunteers of Cunit, doggedly and desperately taking turns to hold up the enormous wounded Dolphin afloat while waiting for the medical team to arrive and during their attempt to save the Dolphin.

It was first discovered by swimmers there that the Dolphin had been pushed by the waves to the beach last Sunday, seriously wounded. After informing the Civil Protection of Animals, 200 volunteers and other swimmers nearby, grouped themselves together to move the animal back to the water, and all of them bodily and with their hands held the Dolphin up during over 100 hours, day and night, taking turns continuously.

But the Dolphin died yesterday after a massive heart-attack. The solidarity operation was unique and very emotional. Some with tears, even though they suspected all along that the hope to save his life was slim but all were willing to spare no effort, as one of them said with a lump in his throat, that the creature seemed to show signs of hanging onto life still.

Even though the salvation failed, it's news like this that warms people's hearts and nourishes the waning hopes in the recent hard times. Those who had spent days in the water on the task would never ever forget this memory. I wouldn't forget it either.

Orangutan & His iPad ~
This orangutan in the Miami Zoo has been trained to use high technology, and can now communicate with people using iPad. This has become the alternative of sign language, whichever way the primate finds easier, more acceptable, or even using both. Apparently he is not the only one either. Other primates are also taking classes.

Albino Killer Whale ~
Russian explorers have seen, for the first time, an adult killer whale, totally white. It's a male, whose fin at the back measures some two metres high, thus means that he is at least 16 years old, and lives in the family community formed by 12 members. What is not known is the cause of his unusual lack of skin pigmentation.
