The Amazing Human Body

Oct 08C
** It takes your food seven seconds to get from your mouth to your stomach.
** One human hair can support 6.6 pounds.
** The average man's penis is two times the length of his thumb.
** Human thighbones are stronger than concrete.
** A woman's heart beats faster than a man's.
** There are about one trillion bacteria on each of your feet.
** Women blink twice as often as men.
** The average person's skin weighs twice as much as the brain.
** Your body uses 300 muscles to balance itself when you are standing still.
** If saliva cannot dissolve something, you cannot taste it.

** Women **
Will be finished reading this by now.
** Men **

Are still busy checking their thumbs!

Thinking Of You

Oct 08B
Someone sent me a poem. It's so lovely
I like to share it so I think of you ...

One song can spark a moment,
One flower can wake the dream.

One tree can start a forest,
One bird can herald spring.

One smile begins a friendship,
One handclasp lifts a soul.

One star can guide a ship at sea,

One word can frame the goal.

One vote can change a nation,
One sunbeam lights a room.

One candle wipes out darkness,
One laugh will conquer gloom.

One step must start each journey,
One word must start each prayer.

One hope will raise our spirits,
One touch can show you care.

One voice can speak with wisdom,
One life can make the difference.

You see, its up to you.

Brooms

The Brooms

Two brooms were hanging in the cupboard and after a while they got to know each other so well, they decided to get married. One broom was, of course, the bride broom, the other the groom broom.

The bride broom looked very beautiful in her white dress. The groom broom was handsome and suave in his tuxedo. The wedding was lovely.

After the wedding, at the wedding dinner, the bride-broom leaned over and said to the groom-broom,
'I think I am going to have a little broom.'

'Impossible,' said the groom broom. 'We haven't even swept together.'

The Door Is Responsible

Oct 08
The Doors are responsible. No, ... not the rock band.

Ever walk into a room with some purpose in mind, only to completely forget what that purpose was?
Turns out, doors themselves are to blame for these strange memory lapses.

Psychologists at the University of Notre Dame have discovered that passing through a doorway triggers what's known as an event boundary in the mind, separating one set of thoughts and memories from the next. Your brain fil! es away the thoughts you had in the previous room and prepares a blank slate for the new locale.

Whew! What a relief to learn this ... Yeah! I knew it couldn't be me! It!'s not aging; It's the door.
Thank goodness for studies like this.
