10th April 2012 Images That Speak Volumes

April 10B
Be it a sketch, a drawing, a picture or painting, or a photograph; some actually speak up to you or tell you stories. From my very young years, I was fascinated especially by the traditional Chinese ink and brush paintings. With just a few dollops of ink, used with great skill and precise control, so that it drops just the right amount of ink on to the parchment (paper made with calf, sheep or goatskin), or silk or canvas; the different shade does created creates just the right depth and shades. The finished work often looks so very simple that makes you invariably think, mistakenly, how simple and easy it is yet, it conveys not just the visually self explainable picture or scene, but 'tells' feelings, emotions and stories, even profound and complicated ones.

I started young to attempt first copying and later inventing my own pictures. Never got one single result to satisfy my own very critical idea of how it should be but frustratingly impossible to make it materialize. So there have been start & stop, off & on period for I lost count how many times and how many years. One day I just say to myself that, sadly, I needed I don't exactly know what to become a reasonable painter of such art, let alone my deep-down desire to be a good one. So I gave up, albeit very reluctantly.

It didn't stop me forget about it all together though. Once in a blue moon I would make some rough sketches to represent this and that, rather casually, so as not to feel utter disappointment again.

This picture below, does it tell you something? Like: The ascension of China, with it's centuries long culture and civilization till the 18th century, then became desperately poor during 150 years and, since 1979, re-emerged once again, steadily, to become now the country with the most dynamic economy & sustainable power of the world.

Old Goat? ~
The young couple invited their aged Vicar for Sunday lunch. While they were in the kitchen preparing the meal, the minister asked their son, what they were having.

'Goat, 'the little boy replied.

'Goat?' replied the startled man of the cloth, 'Are you sure about that?'

'Yep', said the youngster. 'I definitely heard Dad say to Mum, we might as well have the old goat for dinner today as any other day.'

Punishment ~
A little girl came home from school and said to her mother:
'Mummy, today in school I was punished for something that I didn't do.'

The mother exclaimed, 'But that's terrible. I'm going to have a talk with your teacher about this ... by the way, what was it that you didn't do?'

The little girl replied, 'My homework.'

10th April 2012 Children's Funny Observations Of The Sea

April 10
A number of primary schools were doing a project on 'The Sea.' Children were asked to draw pictures or write about their experiences. Teachers got together to compare the results and put together some of the 'better' ones:
1. Some fish are dangerous. Jellyfish can sting. Electric eels can give you a shock. They have to live in caves under the sea because I think they have to plug themselves in to chargers. (Christopher age 7)
2. This is a picture of an octopus. It has eight testicles.Photobucket
(Kelly age 6)
3. Oysters' balls are called pearls. (James age 6)
4. If you are surrounded by sea you are an Island. If you don't have sea all around you, you are incontinent. (Wayne age 7)
5. I think sharks are ugly and mean, and have big teeth, just like Emily Richardson. She's not my friend no more. (Kyle age 6)
6. A dolphin breathes through an asshole on the top of its head. (Billy age 8 )
7. When ships had sails, they used to use the trade winds to cross the ocean. Sometimes, when the wind didn't blow the sailors would whistle to make the wind come. My brother said they would be better off eating beans. (William age 7)
8. I like mermaids. They are beautiful, and I like their shiny tails. How do mermaids get pregnant? (Helen age 6)
