The general economic crisis have done at least one good thing, forces people to put on their thinking hat and come up with new and viable ideas or remedies. Many businesses and commercial establishments have adopted diverse and attractive measures or offers, especially in the sectors where shoppers consider it secondary needs, not essentials like food, or sanitary items. New clothing are for once pushed at the back of the head for many usually fashion conscious women.
But that's before Mango, one of the biggest fashion chain store in Spain, with international outlets in recent years, came up with a rather innovative and attractive sale gimmick, which really makes quite a lot of sense. The system is: customers can return items bought from the store, used for up to a year, and the store will allow you to buy any replacement with a 20% discount.
In today's fast changing trends, most styles would be considered by most women fashion-addicts or victims to be outdated. These are usually pushed way at the back of the wardrobe, or at the bottom of the drawers, and remain there likely forever, as they are deemed not fashionable enough to be used, but in too good condition to be thrown away. After you have had the used of it for a whole year anyway, the 20% discount for a new and up to the minute replacement is certainly tempting, at least as an excuse. What's more, the store promises that 1% of the value of the returned items, will be donated to the 'Foundation Vicente Ferrer' for developing social funds in India.
Mango sells shoes too. I wonder whether they will take that back also and give the 20% for the next pair? Unlikely, shoes would visibly show more wear and tear after they have been worn for a year. Unless, like me, other women also have on average over a hundred pair of shoes at any one time, and most are hardly ever be worn. Some of mine I occasionally stumble upon and can't even remember I have actually owned them or for how long!
So when your husband knits his eyebrows together in a gingerly attempted reproach for your yet another fashion buy, you can rightly retort that it's all for a good cause.
