14th June 2011 Innovation And Science Within Palm's Reach

June 14A
New incentive and lure for visiting Barcelona. Inaugurated just a few months ago are 2 modern museums competing in the Ciudad Condal  to attract the more disquiet and curious minds.

1) The Museum of Ideas And Inventions of Barcelona (MIBA). On now is a personal project of the inventor and writer, Pep Torres. His works are exhibited as is his interior architecture, adapted to the structure of the 19th century building, with a couple of details: The screens of videos in the Wash-Rooms and the periscope at the entrance. The collection unites all kinds of inventions, from the most delirious - that glistening fluorescent food that turns it to look like dog excrement - to suggestions for the business world.

Visitors can only go down to the lower floor by way of a toboggan (chute, slide)! And, amongst the many innovative exhibits, there's this flower pot with 3 wheels fixed on bars of different length, that would look for the sunshine turning the pot this and that way all by itself!

2) The Museum Blau, concentrates on natural representation of nature and terrestrial geology: mineral, dissected and stuffed animals, fossils, vegetables, gigantic reproductions of microorganisms, meteorites, etc. The huge skeleton of a whale, finally restored after the mishap suffered during the transportation, is the star of the exhibition.
