Man Against Nature - Bravery & Patience

June 13 photo June13_zpsf47d3414.jpg
The following photo was taken in the North Bondi Beach, in Sydney, Australia. The brave lone man was up on the wild & steep cliff watching the fierce, gigantic wave raging & roaring, reaching over 10 meters high. Reckless imprudence I would say, but what an awe inspiring image!

What you see in the photo that looks like plane is nailed down on the moon is just a regular plane doing it's daily routine flight over Queensland, Australia. On occasions you can see it passing in front of the moon just for a blinking moment. Christopher Thomas, the photographer and after infinite patience waiting for weeks, he at long last succeeded 'nailed' the plane on the surface of Dash 8 Q400 of Quantas Airlines. Impressive and spectacular, huh?

Only A Vampire Would Love You Forever ...

June 12B photo June12B_zps521d88fd.jpg
The phase and craze of vampire culture seem to be enjoying a huge boom these days, manifested in several movies on the theme, comic books and various new novels, all together a visible revival of this ancient myth and literature. There are zombis, vampires, weir wolves, ghosts, Dracula, demons and monsters, beings from the beyond, with interlaced or forbidden relationships flourishing in dreamlike settings, entwined between reality and fantasy.

They are now marching out of their former hiding places, no longer lying in the dark coffin all day and surfaced only after dark. Neither the crucifix, nor the string of garlic, nor the sunlight can deter them. The modern day vampires have been appearing in the recent years in the subculture of the youth. They have left behind their condition of demons to become heroes, somewhat tragic but attractive, elegant, romantic, and eternal. The story of Bella and her beloved vampire Edward, far too handsome to die, was sort of a new version of Romeo and Juliet. They are glamorous and they never die. According to the American author Stephenie Meyer, "Only a vampire would love you forever!"

You only have to see the long queues all over Europe, to get autograph of Victoria Frances, the author of the graphic novels of beautiful vampires. To the extent that the German insurance companies announced that they wouldn't pay for any damages to the young people, caused by the new trend of having their teeth sharpened, or implants put in to appear more like the blood sucking vampires. Look at the huge success of the 4 books by Stephenie Meyer, and her 1st adaptation for a film 'Twilight' topping the box office record of all times here in Spain at the night of the premiere, including 'Harry Potter'. In the United States just in the first 4 days, it beat Coppola's 'Dracula' and 'Interview with the vampire' with 143 million dollars ticket sale, and the film cost merely 37 million to make.

TV series too as well as in cinemas, like Blood Tie, Moonlight, True Blood ... In this last the vampires live in human society, thanks to the synthetic blood invented by the Japanese. Their integration is not easy, like any religious subculture, sexuality, age. There is another film 'Circus of the freak' with William Dafoe and Salma Hayek, based on the novel 'The saga of Darren Shan'. Another adapted from a successful novel is 'Bubba Nosferatu: the curse of women vampires, with Paul Gianmatti and Ron Perlman, bringing Elvis who stumble into a group of beautiful vampires while shooing a film.

Tim Burton, king of Gothic, worked with Johnny Depp in 'Dark Shadows, life of Barnabas Collins, the vampire' The 3 remaining novels about vampires of Stephenie Meyer was to be adapted too so rumours goes ...

SleepBox Or SnoozeCabin?

June 12Az photo June12A_zps3467bd94.jpg
Better than waiting at the airport or train station for hours for the connection to other destination, a new invention of, what do you think the name should be, a 'SleepBox' the official name? Or my choice of Snooze Cabin in one word or two? 'In any case, it's much better than the awkward option of in the most uncomfortable seat with nowhere to rest your head.

It measures 1.4 metres wide, 2 in length and 2,3 the height. It has ample space inside as the photos below show. The bed is made of polimer of many joined monomers (chemicals) so the bed-sheets are changed automatically. It's rented by hours. I suppose you can rent it for the whole night if you suddenly find that your flight is delayed till the following day, or your trained is cancelled.

I suppose a few romantic, or naughty couple
have more adventurous ideas?

Susi Pop - Not Man, Not Woman, Just A Damn Good Person

June 12 photo June12_zpsa5ef8e4a.jpg
"I am a sweet transvestite of the Transylvania transsexual", so he introduced himself in public Dr. Frank N. Furter, protagonist of the cult film 'Rocky Horror Picture Show'. The same motto was posted in Myspace about the singer and artist Susi Pop, whose lifeless body was 5 years ago found in the in the Segovia Street. The cause of death is not determined.

Susi Pop made herself very popular then later famous when she became one of the members of the group 'Nancy's Blondes', created in 1994, by the artistic representative Mario Vaquerizo, husband of Alaska. "She was one of the most special people I have known. Her absence would leave an enormous void in all of us. She was a constant source of great ideas and vitality", he so declared to the press in Madrid. The now well known name of the group was Susi's brain child.

She was born Jesus Galindo in 1975, in Seville but was reborn in Madrid with a new identity. Like the good discipline of Warhol, she worked as wardrobe mistress of the Berlin Cabaret, one of the key spots of the circuit of night entertainment in the capital. She became a habitual of the nocturnal club hopper, putting on occasionally some of her experimental musical projects, collaborating with her friend Putirecords. At the end of the 90's when Fangoria reappeared with the disc 'Una temporada en el infierno' (A brief period in hell), she was seen always in the front row of his concerts, or in queues in the Gran Via in Madrid, waiting at the door of the now disappeared 'Madrid Rock', for the autograph of her idols.

The artists she adored included Bowie, Ramones, New York Dolls, Adam Ant, Bauhaus and Marilyn Manson. The admiration soon turned to friendship and in June of 2003, in the private birthday party of Alaska in the famous Morocco Club, Susi improvised an unforgettable play-back of the theme 'Happy House', original of Siouxsie, one of the myths together with the birthday girl. She was by then part of a group of dancers that went round the circuit of night spots, baptised as the 'Ballet Special K'. She had also sung with Alaska a version of 'I want to be Santa in the Galileo Club.

She was treasured by all who had known her as a wonderful person, always elegant, and very intelligent, considerate to all others, and never once troubled anyone with her own problems or took advantage of friendship. Nobody knew why she died so suddenly, or had she perhaps taken her own life. They just all felt extremely sad and empty.

From London Alaska and Nacho Ganut, emerged in the recording of their new album of Fangoria, cried the sad loss of their dear friend. Alaska had before in her book 'Transgresoras' dedicated the words: To Susi, not a man, nor a woman, nor a transvestite, nor need to be. She is my kind of a damn good person.'

That dedication might just be the right tribute to say good-bye to her.
