5th July 2912 All Robot Restaurnat

July 05A
The first all robot restaurant is opened in Harbin, the Ice City in China. Robots cook all the food, and served it to tables. They are equipped with devices to avoid knocking against customers, and apparently they know each table's different order (by memory?) Not only that they obviously have to take the order in the first place, so are even capable of maintaining a simple conversation (regarding food) with the customers, helped sometimes with added gestures.

18 robots work there, between 1,3 to 1,6 metres tall (not so uniform in very way to be less robotlike?) I dare guess they don't really cook the food, more like heating it up or adding garish or something like that. The dishes must surely have some human influence? I also know the restaurant will be doing blooming business, at least for quite some time, for the novelty factor alone and natural human curiosity. I will go, but not a 2nd time, not with such a limited menu. Shouldn't they put on different clothing perhaps, or in different colour so that you know which one is Your waiter? Also to ease somewhat the monotony?

Other customers might be like me, visit once at least. But with China's more than enormous population, the novelty would last a very long time with a healthy profit ... until somebody else think up some other interesting novelties.

5th July 2012 The Lady, The Tramp, And The Judge

July 05
An acquaintance of mine is very upset today, told me over coffee that his dog had been killed in a traffic accident by a drunken driver.

I remember a long time ago I wrote another Blog about an incident involving a dog killed by another dog, made known in a court case: ~

There's a bit of interesting news today about dogs. No, actually the interesting part is about a court judge; the story about the dogs is a sad & tragic one.

The judge sentenced the owner of a German Shepherd to pay € 2,000 to the couple whose Yorkshire Terrier was killed by their dog. Before the sentencing, the judge quoted the following words from the well known & well loved all time favourite cartoon of Walt Disney's ;The Lady & The Tramp':
" One thing no one can buy with money is the wagging of a dog's tail."

He added that the fine is not for the consoling or compensating the Terrier's owner for the death of their dog because, to them the pain caused by losing a beloved is priceless. It's a punishment hopefully served as a reminder for the owner of the Alsatian, for his lack of vigilance & control of his dog.
I am so glad that the judge had doled out humanity, comprehension & compassion in sentencing, not purely governed by the rigid written law. An admirable judge in my book, not only wise but humane.

Long may his wig wag!
