An
acquaintance of mine is very upset today, told me over coffee that his
dog had been killed in a traffic accident by a drunken driver.
I
remember a long time ago I wrote another Blog about an incident
involving a dog killed by another dog, made known in a court case: ~
There's
a bit of interesting news today about dogs. No, actually the
interesting part is about a court judge; the story about the dogs is a
sad & tragic one.
The judge sentenced the owner of a German Shepherd to pay € 2,000 to the couple whose Yorkshire Terrier was killed by their dog. Before the sentencing, the judge quoted the following words from the well known & well loved all time favourite cartoon of Walt Disney's ;The Lady & The Tramp':

" One thing no one can buy with money is the wagging of a dog's tail."
He added that the fine is not for the consoling or compensating the Terrier's owner for the death of their dog because, to them the pain caused by losing a beloved is priceless. It's a punishment hopefully served as a reminder for the owner of the Alsatian, for his lack of vigilance & control of his dog.
I
am so glad that the judge had doled out humanity, comprehension &
compassion in sentencing, not purely governed by the rigid written law.
An admirable judge in my book, not only wise but humane.
Long may his wig wag!
