7th June 2011 2 Crazy Cellos, 2 Crazier Musicians

June 07B
The 2Cellos - Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser, distinguished as cellists and have played in great temples of symphony music, renowned orchestras, but felt that they needed something more. So, one fine day, they decided to let their hair down, yielded to their passion for pop music and created an energetic version for 2 cellos of 'Smooth Criminal' in their native country Croatia. That video was posted on YouTube on the 20th Jan. and has since become such a phenomenon (with 3 million visits in 3 weeks), that Sony contracted them. They will launch their multinational first disc next Monday the 13th, and Elton John has invited them to join him in his next European tour beginning tomorrow in Cardiff.

From being classical musicians to rock stars in 3 weeks is an incredible dream and now reality. Hauser hopes to achieve yet more, with his new single, an arrogant interpretation of 'Welcome to the jungle' of Guns'N'Roses, which would be up today on YouTune. But, when I just clicked on the 'invitation' to view it, it says it's not available in my area!!!!! I am livid! Would somebody please post this video for me to have a look?

These 2 musicians take the strings of their cellos to the extreme, transmitting all their bubbling passion for the music of today with the traditional instrument is the key of their work. The cellos are amplified, and they extract from them all kinds of sounds, using them sometimes as base of rhythm, hitting them with their hands while sustaining the bow with their teeth! They go to the limit, seeing no barriers separating their skill in classical music and pop-rock, maintaining their classic slope and permitting themselves to go crazy.

Isn't Shostakovich (Russian composer) also Rock?

Just on passing, isn't Hauser deliciously handsome?

2Cellos
Following my appeal sent out to a couple of friends earlier to post 'Welcome to the jungle' on their site so that I can take a peep, I finally found it on a Spanish paper, but they won't let me download it! YouTube did promise to solve the area problem though, at least they said they were working on it.

7th June 2011 Zombis - Made In Spain

Politicians are not all boring or liars, nor doctors interested in nothing but clinical intrigues, nor teachers know only preaching doctrines, nor clergymen constantly giving out free sermons. Menel Loutrito is a lawyer, and a writer - about Zombis!

Doors are opened to Zombis, made in Spain, with his trilogy 'Apocalipsis Zombi', born in Blogs and with 1 and a half million followers. Now with the culmination 'The fury of the righteous'. For mental hygiene he said, was the reason he wrote about Zombis. He wanted to write a story furthest possible from juridical literature, the most arid that one could imagine. And the Zombis show the collapse of the most affluent and orderly world of laws and rights.

His are stories of ordinary people in extraordinary situations. What happens if the society, the world were overthrown and you, not Bruce Willis, was the protagonist. The sensation of utter chaos: when you click the switch and no light comes on, you turn the tap but no water runs, and see how we would confront all that, and now ... Suddenly we are left to our own defence, and converting from great predators to become quarries. Terror stories go beyond gore effects, they serves us to confront our own fears. It also seems that seeing others in worse situations than our own bring about some sort of consolation.

It's not a joke. A few days ago, the centre for the Control and Prevention of diseases of the United States, posted in the official Blog 'Apocalipsis Zombi', a guide to survive a hypothetical attack of the living dead. It's the most read item in the history of the web. The advice serves equally to earthquakes, plagues or nuclear accidents.

According to News Week, the Zombis are official monsters of crisis because they reappear always in times of maximum tension. They surfaced in the beginning of the 70's with the petrol crisis, reappeared in the middle of 80's with the danger of the Nuclear War, then again at the peak of the economic crisis of the 90's and with the one at present. They signify the chaos, the loss of your universe; and the reader, who see it as real possibility, feel identified with such stories, despite the introduction in them of such incredible elements as the living dead.

Some said that a human is more dangerous than a Zombi. That's a lie. In extreme situations the best and worst come out, usually the worst. We are by nature predators, and we can be so even with ourselves.

Xico, as he is called at home, travelled to Houston from Spain, to reunite with his family, who had left a few days ago with the bulk of the household belongings. A remedy of Bach's flowers and recording of natural and familiar sounds achieved relaxing Xico during the travel to the airport. The vehicle for the journey was adapted, clean and well ventilated.l

Before the fairly long flight to Houston there's time for Xico to play in an ample grassed terrace. When he arrives in Houston, his master could wait in the new house for him, but he had already announced that he would go to the airport to pick up Xico, as he had missed him very much and had followed his movements on the computer. By now, you would gather that Xico is a family dog.

Andnes Parcerisas, promoter of art by profession, had one fine day 4 years ago created TravelDog, the first company in Spain dedicated exclusively to transporting mascots to a place just round the corner, to any state nationally, or to any corner of the world.

Normally a dog or cat pays the same air-fare on a plane as a passenger, and Parcerisas felt that it's time he received the treatment he deserved, not just shut up below board with no space to move about, lonely, scared and often too hot or too cold. The transport vehicles on the road are all adapted, with air conditioning always set on 20 degrees, and with plenty of ventilation. Even ramps for animals with difficulty of movement. And, very important, clean, always, as any dirt or excrements are cleared up every hour. They are equipped with telephone and GPS, and stops for consulting veterinarian if needed, so that owners can connect to find out how their mascots are doing, at what speed they are travelling, or, with password, actually see them in videos,  follow them on walks (every 4 hours) by connecting to www.traveldog.es or download them to keep as record.

Four years along, there are several headquarters in different cities of Spain now. One amusing detail was disclosed today, that 90% of the workers and carers of TravelDog are women, because 'they have a sensibility closest to animal's.' Now I know why I am sometimes roar and other times purr ...
