6th Feb 2012 Everybody Sings Dylan

Feb 06B
Bod Dylan, perhaps the most famous singer of the 20th century, spending a good part of his life trying to destroy the myth of his reputation as being the singer of political protest. Today, however, a new disc is edited to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the creation of International Amnesty, exclusively composed of Bob Dylan's verses.

'Chimes of Freedom', - Songs of Bob Dylan, including 75 of his original compositions, performed by Patti Smith, Adele, Diana Krall, Sting, Pete Townshend, Billy Bragg, My Chemical Romance, Maroon 5 and My Morning Jacket ... amongst many more others.

The dimension of the product, 4 CD's with more than 5 hours of music, turns it into the most uncommon beneficiary disc ever recorded.

Chimes of Freedom was, in fact, the song that closed the concerts of Dylan's tour 'Human Rights Now' which International Amnesty organised in 1998, performed together with Sting, Bruce Springsteen, Peter Gabriel, Tracy Chapman and Youssou N'Dour.

Another significant fact: International Amnesty initiated their activities in 1961, the same year Dylan travelled to New York & offered his first concerts in the Big Apple. As Dylan didn't celebrate his own 50th anniversary, this quadruple CD would be more like a birthday cake.

'Chime of Freedom' unites artists of all generations and vocations - Pop stars (Miley Cyrus, Ke$ha), veterans (Kris Kristofferson, Pete Seeger), rockers (Bad Religion, My Chemical Romance), regulars (Sting, Jackson Browne, Sinead O'Conner, Lenny Kraviitz, and inseparable duels (Paul Rogers with Nils Lofgren, Seal with Jeff Beck). All these versions have been recorded specially for this project, with the exception of 5 live performance: of Dave Matthews Band, Adele, Sugarland, Marianne Faithful and Dierks Bentley.

6th Feb 2012 Perfume, Misic, Lovers & Lamb Chop ...

A lady friend and I were talking about perfume this morning over coffee. We both declared perfume addicts, but with a big difference. She is a one perfume woman (as signature she said) and collects lovers, changing them frequently. I am the exact opposite, I change perfume often, but a one man woman once I am happily committed.

Her explanation to the one perfume is clear and simple, her signature; her many lovers need no explanation; totally her own business. I think she was hoping I would ask why, but I didn't!

For me, perfume speaks. And it's not just the pleasant smell or that it makes a woman feel feminine. It evokes emotions and memories. People can sense your presence before you come close enough for them to actually see you, and your presence lingers after you had gone. Very much like music often does. It lingers in your mind and stored in your memory which often pops up when your emotion of the moment calls for it without your consciously doing so.

I change my perfumes depending on occasions or moods. Fresh and floral for day, sensual and musky for night, and a variety of subtle difference in each category for different occasions. Most women put on perfume for others; I do for myself, with company or not, and I spray perfume every night even on my pillows.

Why should I use just one perfume, when there are others better suited for my mood, and better express how I feel for certain days, nights or moments? Music too. If one likes rock, one can be equally fond of concert music of Bach, no?

Like all other delightful things in life, why limit yourself to one thing only? If you adore steak, it doesn't mean you don't enjoy the change of a lamp chop, right?
