The modern habit or trend (laziness I call it) of abbreviating just about any names, terms or words, to such an extent that it becomes much more time wasting trying to guess what they actually mean or stand for. They are often shortened or transformed in such a way that's entirely unrecognisable.
There's a new one, no idea who started it but it has been used recently quite a lot: 'vaca' for 'vacacion' which is 'vacation'. So you can see it could be used in English too; might even be better and clearer as, 'vaca' in Spanish is a proper word in it's own right, meaning a cow.
Don't feel odd then when you are asked 'How did you enjoy your cow?' 'How many cows you had last year?' 'Does your company pay for your cow?' 'I had a real boring cow! What about yours?' 'Did you take your cow in a cruiser?' ... Confusing isn't it?uu
BTW, don't laf. Did u no I got hitched in a cow? lol!
