Electronic Cigarrettes

Each time I thought I had heard just about everything, and nothing could surprise me any more, something else new, exciting, fascinating, disgusting or shocking would always come up, to make me happy, sad, confused, encouraged or disheartened all over again.

This time I am talking about the electronic cigarettes! Electronic this, that, and practically everything else we have got pretty used to already in recent years, but electronic cigarettes? Apparently yes! I am not sure whether this is already old news elsewhere outside Spain, but it's certainly the first time here and I have never heard of it before today.

The CNPT ( Cometí Nacional para la Prevención del Tabaquismo ) National Committee of the Prevention of Addiction to Tobacco ) has just urged the sanitary authorities to take action, stopping the electronic cigarettes going on the market. The sanitary professionals said this product of cigarettes, each in the form of a cylinder, provides doses of nicotine through the warming up of a cartridge, signifies going "a step backwards" in the advances reached in recent years to stop people smoking or cure them of the addiction.

The CNPT Department added that no electronic cigarettes have been authorized by the Medication Agency. Any new product of consumption containing nicotine needs to be authorized by the Ministry of Sanitary.

The experts also revealed that such cigarettes have been presented with deceptive and misleading slogan, as healthy and totally harmless alternatives. On the contrary; the doses of nicotine they generate are as addictive as normal cigarettes.

Perverse Pleasure - Millionaire Thief

The robbery of living art, like any of those 4 impetuously taken from the Museum in Zurich, resembles very much like a kidnapping. Hidden now in some inaccessible place is the world known picture " The boy with a red waistcoat " by the great impressionist artist Cezanne, who once said while talking about something else: "It's not my intention to paint life in a picture, but to give life to the picture."

His painting, like the other 3, is like red hot coal, it's explosive personality a time-bomb, speaks out incessantly, to anyone at any moment, of it's presence to denounce it's kidnapper. The picture gallery has offered €60,000 to anyone who could proffer any lead to it's whereabouts. Such a showy and instantly recognizable merchandise is practicably impossible to sell.

I guess it's not even the destiny planned. This type of art robbery, if not indicated by it's return in exchange of a ransom, usually ends up being in some grand mansion of a millionaire, or multimillionaire, who might have commissioned an international expert thief to secure the painting for his private pleasure. Someone, perhaps at this very moment, is secretly contemplating, with unconstrained delight, the boy in the red coat.

Someone, a compulsive collector of fine or rare art maybe, bored of counting his money, is now studying the harmonious contrasts, the relative preciseness of the use of colours and shades, the plenitude of shapes and forms, the absence of dividing lines; remembering also the longing, the yearning, the impatient waiting to have the painting where it is now. A mixed emotion of all of that, in absolute solitude.

What type of person would this be? Inmature? Narcissistic tendency? Pleasure seeker of the forbidden and intractable? The perverse delight of danger or crime? The boy in the red coat, admired by Picasso and by Matisse, now in his possession, contemplated by him alone and nobody else in the world! If only there's a cat he could show this to!

How can it be a real pleasure when you have nobody to enjoy it with? To share your excitement and happiness, to listen to or echo your comments, to laugh and squeal with delight together like children.This treasure is just another thing in the house you dare not show even to your own family.

A magnificent gourmet meal, eaten totally alone, is just another meal to fill the stomach. I would rather have a hamburger with good company.
