12th May 2012 A Trilogy Of Love Stories

May 12A

** First date in the cinema ~

On their first date, Jim and Danielle sat in the darkened cinema waiting for the film to start. The screen finally lit up with a flashy advertisement for the cinema’s concession stand. Jim and Danielle realised that there was no sound. The film began but the silence continued. Not that it mattered too much for them, as darkness sometimes helps rather than hinders shy first dates.

Suddenly, out of the darkness, an irritated voice in the crowd loudly shouted, "Okay, who's got the remote control?"

** Love at first flight (a true story) ~

A man who fell in love with a fellow passenger on board a flight got the airline to help him track her down. Michael Young fell for Juliet Lever on a Flybe flight from Belfast to Newcastle. Juliet, who was in seat 2B, and Michael, who was in 2C, hit it off instantly. Sadly, Michael was too shy to ask Juliet for her number. He confirmed this on the Victoria Derbyshire show on BBC Radio 5 Live today.

He pined for her so much after they parted that he contacted the airline and begged bosses to ask her to get in touch. They obliged and Juliet, 29, phoned him and they agreed to go out to dinner. A whirlwind romance followed and they are to get married next month.

Juliet, who now lives with Michael in Manchester, said, 'Every girl dreams of a fairytale romance and you couldn't get better than this.'

Flybe's Head of Customer Relations, Ella Jones commented, 'Michael's tale pulled heart strings so we played cupid.'

** First hospital for the broken hearted (true story too) ~

A hospital clinic for the broken hearted has been set up in Germany to give emergency treatment to those who have been dumped.Set up by Munich based Doctor Birgit Delisle, the clinic in the Schwabing Hospital aims primarily at lovesick teenagers who do not know how to cope with a broken heart.

"Having your heart broken can lead to physical and psychological problems, from loss of appetite which leads to sudden weight loss to unbelievable pain that drives many people to take drastic measures." The free clinic in the Bavarian capital will have experts on hand to advise both sexes on how to cope with being single.

12th May 2012 Interesting Food Facts For Thought

May 12
1) Apple is made of 25% air, that is why they float. (They do. I checked.)

2) Avocado has the highest protein and oil content of all fruits. (I love it, whatever they contain.)

3) Carrots were originally purple in colour, changing in the 17th Century to orange with newer varieties. (Should have kept it and add the orange for variety.)

4) Celery requires more calories to eat and digest than it contains. (One of my favourite vegetables, especially the Chinese ones, far more tender)

5) Cherries are a member of the rose family. (Maybe that's why one can eat rose too. Quite a few variety of flowers are used in Chinese cookery, also in Hawaiian and Indonesian food preparation.)

6) Corn always has an even number of ears. It only makes up about 8% of the weight in a box of corn flakes. (I didn't know that.)

7) Honey is the only edible food for humans that will never go bad. (Good to know something does last forever.)

8) Lemons contain more sugar than strawberries. (Surprising isn't it? Who would have thought?)

9) Peanuts are one of the ingredients in dynamite. (It's the nut I like least of all nuts; I even like the human variety.)

10) Pear is a fruit that ripens from the inside out. (Don't we all?)

Did you know that during a lifetime the average person eats about 35 tons of food; at least that's the statistics the experts came up with. (I would sure love to know how experts can come to that exact figure! Who goes around the world checking out and recording how much each and every person eats? How???)
