The
first all robot restaurant is opened in Harbin, the Ice City in China.
Robots cook all the food, and served it to tables. They are equipped
with devices to avoid knocking against customers, and apparently they
know each table's different order (by memory?) Not only that they
obviously have to take the order in the first place, so are even
capable of maintaining a simple conversation (regarding food) with the
customers, helped sometimes with added gestures.
18
robots work there, between 1,3 to 1,6 metres tall (not so uniform in
very way to be less robotlike?) I dare guess they don't really cook the
food, more like heating it up or adding garish or something like that.
The dishes must surely have some human influence? I also know the
restaurant will be doing blooming business, at least for quite some
time, for the novelty factor alone and natural human curiosity. I will
go, but not a 2nd time, not with such a limited menu. Shouldn't they
put on different clothing perhaps, or in different colour so that you
know which one is Your waiter? Also to ease somewhat the monotony?
Other
customers might be like me, visit once at least. But with China's more
than enormous population, the novelty would last a very long time with
a healthy profit ... until somebody else think up some other
interesting novelties.
