18th July 2011 The Ni-Ni And The Y-Y Generation

Not long ago I blogged about the fairly new denomination the Spanish invented 'The Ni-Ni generation', referring to the young people between the age of 14 to 25, who neither study nor work (Ni-Ni in Spanish means neither-nor). They live in their parents' home, spend most of their time loitering or grouping with other Ni-Ni's in street corners drinking, smoking and leaving food boxes and other rubbish all over the place. True, they exist, and far too many of them.



While so many people criticize the Ni-Ni's day after day, nobody seems to notice there are many, even more in number than the Ni-Ni's, are the Y-Y's ('Y' in Spanish is 'and'), who study and work hard, and dedicate much of their free time to take on social tasks without pay, and willingly offer to be volunteers cooperating the campaign to collect stray animals, and visit the sick in hospitals, and 'adopt' a grandpa or grandma, and collect toys for orphans, and do shopping for old folks who live alone, and ...
 


People are so quick to notice bad or uncivil conducts and criticize, yet always so blind to good or selfless deeds and praise, or at least acknowledge ...
