18th Mar 2012 Boy Soldier, Armed & Ready To Kill

This very disturbing photo was published on the Spanish paper, reporting that this former soldier amongst others, boys and girls, recruited by groups of Congo, now by sheer luck, managed to stay alive and reinserted as a mechanic.

Wonderful news this. But I I can't help fixing my eyes on his expression, feinted bravery to cover his fear, the soft toy bear hung on his back silently claim his too soon snatched away childhood, and the '''Flipflaps' on his feet, which if & when in fatal danger he needed to run for his life with. Or they sure hindrance?

The photo is so very poignant, powerfully imposing, so ironic and so deeply tragic that made me shudder, to cry out 'Oh ... why, why, why such cruel loss of innocence and be forced fed with hatred and violence, instead of laughter and love. Girl soldiers were subjected to even worse fate, often turned into sexual slaves and, they would not have the luck even after the war like the boys, to somehow block out the nightmare past to restart a new life, as they are now even despised, rejected, and most were disowned by their families.

 

35,000 child soldiers have been liberated in recent years. Physically that is. Would their minds and memories be liberated from the indelible horrors, ever?
