4th July 2012 Monkey Business

July 04A
A scientific experiment has revealed that when a monkey stretches out his arms to reach for the banana, he feels more intense pleasure than when he has reached it. The strong desire to get the fruit produces a bio-substance called Dopamine, a neurotransmitter which works in conjunction to the brain, to regulate movement and emotion, excites & activates the brain cells to reproduce themselves & increase, thus replacing the 10 million cells which apparently died every second, at least in the case of humans. What a thought!

With this proven discovery, our more sophisticated human brain must benefit much more, as our journey to our banana is infinitely longer. It requires more advanced planning & execution, visualizing & pondering over, day after day, feeding & nourishing in our longing towards this fruit in our imagination; savouring the yearning & anticipating the eventual success, even though all that is but a hope. The adrenalin though must have by then turned to this essential Dopamine. We also have more desires of different nature, other than just the banana.

This monkey business once more illustrates the wisdom, that life's journey is more significant than the destination. Even with some undesirable or unavoidable detours & mistakes along the way.

Desire is pleasure in itself; manifestation of being alive. The monkey shows us that!
