18th Aug 2012 The First Kiss

Aug 18
It's not just the 1st kiss, but one that makes international news. A commemorative plate of granite has been erected recording the 1st kiss the President of the United States Obama with his beloved Michelle, now his wife the first lady of America. He treated her in their 1st date, to the richest ice-cream from the BaskinRobins, on the pavement as their table. The 1st kiss tasted chocolate he later commented.

The ice-cream shop is not there any more, in it's place a fast-food restaurant inside a shopping center. The directives of the locality, in the Hyde Park of Chicago, motivated by their commercial brain-wave no doubt, immortalize their 1st kiss with this huge memorial plate weighing 1,400 kilos with the inscription text, reading: ... shown below.

1st Kiss
It's more than likely it's not the 1st kiss of him or her. I wonder what all the ex's feel about this?

For most, all of us I should think, all 1st experience of just about anything in life is memorable, much more so of course the first kiss. Quite unlike one's 1st job, 1st house, 1st travel abroad, 1st ride on horse back, 1st time driving a car, 1st swim in the nude ..., the 1st kiss is the intimacy with someone you have tender feelings for, with the promise of more intimacy and togetherness, and endless possibilities.

Not so my first kiss; it was 'stolen' or rather 'snatched' from me when I least expected. Not for that it's, alas, at all possible to erase from my memory however hard I tried.

Some 1st experiences of life are indeed worth remembering, but regardless whether the experience is good, bad, delightful or painful, all of the '1st ...' is memorable or, rather, unforgettable.
