'A
man reserves his true and deepest love not for the species of woman in
whose company he finds himself electrified and enkindled, but for that
one in whose company he may feel tenderly drowsy.' - by George Jean Nathan
The above quote was sent to me just an hour ago in an email by a friend of mine, a lady in her 30's, quite attractive, in a very responsible and respectable job, but most unlucky in love, several times, including a failed marriage that lasted less than a year. She was saying she wished she could find love from a man like the one in the quote, loving her deeply and truly.
I have no idea who George Jean Nathan is. No doubt somebody whose words and opinions carry some weight to be quoted as from someone wise or sage. Being a passionate woman, I simply can't agree with him, although what he said is mostly true. From a man's point of view perhaps.
Just to be a homely and comfy pillow for a man is definitely not me. I certainly want to be much more to my man than somebody soft and warm to cuddle up to and fall asleep close by.
I want to be the one described in the quote that lights his fire, makes him feel electrified, enkindled, and exhausted, with his strength totally spent, before any drowsiness sets in!! Then I will nurture him like a baby. I want to be his mother, his mistress, his lover, his confidant, and if he asks, his wife and, most of all, his dependable, loyal and all time true friend.
So I sent my lady friend a quote too in my reply:-
'Stand by your man. Give him two arms to cling to and something warm to come to.' - by Tammy Wynette
I don't know who Tammy Wynette is either. Not important. Let her and George Jean Nathan
sort it out!
