Happy International Women's Day to all ladies! And gentlemen, who are in many cases the reason of our happiness. For those who are not, I wish them happiness too, so that they would spread and share it to whoever they do care about.

This day reminds me of Queen Nur of Jordan, few years ago, handed out the awards for the celebration of the event 'Women of the world' to 12 women for their artistic and social contribution, their business accomplishment and their fight for a better world. Amongst the premiered ladies were actresses Claudia Cardinale and Monica Bellucci, the singers Marianne Faithful and Anastasia, the survivor of Genocide of Ruanda Esther Mujawayo, the writer and protagonist converted to Christianity Sabatina James, the business woman Marilyn Carslon, the Italian designer Angela Nussonic and the Australian model Elle Macpherson. The prize giving ceremony took place in a special Gala in the capital of Austria, with performance by several artists: Anastasia, Kelly Clarkson and the Italian singer Zucchero.

Not all of the honoured could attend the ceremony in Vienna to collect the awards though. George and Kindel accused the government of Yemen for retaining and confiscating the passport of one of the premièred young lady, Nujood Ali, who at just 10 years of age was the first and the youngest woman to have ever achieved getting a divorce, after having been forced into a marriage with a 30 year old man in Yemen.

Ali was distinguished with the award of Hope for being the source of inspiration for millions of women. Kindel explained that the girl was forbidden to leave her country, not even in company of her family.

Hard to believe isn't it, that this could happen, amongst other atrocities imposed on women in some parts of the world, in the 21st century.
