The Mind Of The Gays

I am referring to an article published day before yesterday on the news, with the curious title 'The brains of gays are similar to those of the opposite sex'. It seems to me dangerous to give coverage to a study that puts between lines the free election of sexual options of people as a genetic condition. More so if we bear in mind the very limited and sloping balance of merely 90 people of the same age, and all of them of the same nation and culture, namely the United States. Can 90 Americans represent the millions of all nationalities and ages in the world? The big and to me quite puzzling question is: Why and for what purpose such an investigation and study?

Isn't it more serious and more important to deal with the prejudice and violence aimed at the gays, lesbians and transsexuals, rooted on ignorance and unjust homophobia, still present in many societies, although most of them wouldn't openly admit it? So much so that in some countries these people,, purely for their sexual inclination and for no crime whatsoever committed, are outcast, attacked, persecuted and, in some of them, even punished by death?

The study contains several absurdities and preposterous suggestions, or findings, that the brain of a gay person is the same, or nearly the same, as a heterosexual woman's. What would the person be if he is bisexual, or the one who is a male transsexual and homosexual? The Americans have taken years investigating what is simply a person's, any person's desire to exercise the free choice of whom to love and be loved.

Why couldn't they have dedicated their time, energy and funds to find solutions, to combat homophobia and it's consequences: discriminations, aggressions, limitations of liberty, etc.?
