Millionaire Fugitives

Just talking about millionaires in my last Blog posted a short while ago, I remember now that I could have put on the title 'The Good, the bad and the ugly' by adding 'the improbable' on this other news about a couple more 'millionaires'.

The New Zealand authorities has launched a search on worldwide scale for a couple, to whom a local bank there had given, by error, nearly €4.4 million when they had solicited a loan of some €4,500.

Apparently and no doubt the very surprised millionaire couple had closed up their gas (petrol) station in a small town and had immediately abandoned the country.

They had asked the Bank Westpac for a loan of 10,000 New Zealand dollars, but the bank had mistakenly deposited in their account 10 million New Zealand dollars. I guess their millionaire life style would end soon enough when the police of the entire world is looking for them.

Did they really think they could get away with it simply by going abroad?
