13th June 2011 The Mad, Mad, Mad World ...

June 13
It's one of those coincidences that often happen: when you think, see, read or hear of something strange or simply unusual, there's always more to come. Yesterday I was talking about various strange facts happen in different parts of the world in my 2 Blogs, and I have now come across some more.

Peculiar to say the least -
A vigilance camera of the metro in New York captured a man licking avidly one of his shoe for more than 2 minutes. As if that was not peculiar enough, none of the passengers in the same metro, inexplicably, had as much as batting an eyelid!

~ It's New York. Didn't they say in New York, ANYTHING could happen at any time?

Being Shakespeare -
It's authentic, and most unnecessary torture, but Zhang Yiyi was quite willing and ready, in fact looking forward to, wait for it, become or at least look like Shakespeare, his most admired idol. YiYi will invest 100,000 €, the equivalent of 4 years of his salary, to have plastic surgery on his eyes, his chin and his cheeks ... It will take 10  months to complete the operations, and needs afterwards medical revisions every 2 months. But all that is nothing to achieve his dream.

~ I certainly wouldn't go through any surgery, even if it's guaranteed successful and free of charge, to look like anybody else, however beautiful it's promised. It's not that I don't wish to be more beautiful; it's my utter fear of the knife!

William The 2nd -
In a certain occasion, 2 men were drinking in a tavern. One of them had the abysmal idea to toast 'To the health of the crazy Emperor.'

A spy amongst the many that the Kaiser had round the watering holes, whose task was to see that nothing bad was said against the ruler, wanted to arrest the drunkard, who tried to defend himself saying what he said was 'To the health of the crazy emperor ... of China.'

'Don't you try to fool me.', said the spy. 'Everybody knows that the only crazy emperor there is in the world is ours.' He too was taken to the police station.

~ The Chinese Proverb says: 'Think 3 times before speaking or acting.'
