While
writing earlier on today about Prince Alejandro throwing a toilet
bowl, during the celebration yesterday as part of the festival
activities on the Day of the Queen in Holland, I was also remembering
the several times I attended the Highland Games in Crieff, Scotland. As
I had forgotten the official name for the throwing of the Caber, (a
long wooden pole, similar to a telephone pole or an unrefined trimmed
tree trunk) raised at one end and thrown as a test of strength in
Scottish Highland sport, I email someone I know well there for the
information.
In
his prompt reply, he corrected me the term I used; 'throwing', as
incorrect; it's called 'tossing the caber'. It's not thrown for
distance, but is tossed so that it lands end over end. The nearest
throw to a position of 12 O'clock, after it lands, is the winner.

I find the games quite interesting. I thought maybe some of you will too.
