The Ageless Rockers

Just as well it's not always bad or alarming news that get reported. What I discovered today is real invigorating and most encouraging, amongst all the other most depressing reports of murders, robberies, terrorists, accidents and disasters, natural or otherwise. There was a rock concert, one not at all like any other. None of the members of the performing group is professional musician, and all of them are over 70 years old! Their repertoire has no melodic love songs on strings, evergreens on piano or solitary recital of cello. A Rock concert! 'Casal Rock' is the title of a so called TV Docu-series of 9 episodes, featuring a group formed by 25 members, from the age of 70 to 89, selected from all over Catalunya. I missed the first episode emitted as I didn't know about it till the day after. But that 1st part would only be showing how the group got together and how they began to learn how to change their usual style of singing church choirs, fishermen's love ballads or boleros, to modern or heavy metal rock. Each following episode would record their progress until the last one, which would be a live performance in front of a large audience, in one of Barcelona's famous night spots, the 'Gas Light' nightclub. Amongst the songs they are going to perform include those of AC/DC, and the collaboration of groups' Estopa, Lax n' Busto, and the songs 'I love Rock & Roll' of Joan Jett, 'Smells like teen spirit' of Nivana amongst many others.
